
Getting Your UV Curing Right
Think of your UV lamps as more than just parts you swap out every few months. They’re really the heart of your entire curing line. When you’re printing on textiles or other materials, you’re basically racing the clock—trying to turn liquid ink into a solid film in a fraction of a second. We don’t just ship you a tube and wish you luck. We dig into your whole setup to make sure the ink actually sticks and doesn’t bleed across your work. The science of the “dry” It comes down to how many photons are actually hitting your material. Higher wattage usually means a faster line, which is great for productivity. But here’s the catch: the lamp’s wavelength has to play nice with the photoinitiator in your ink. If they aren’t in sync, you get that annoying “surface cure.” Everything looks dry on top, but the bottom is still gooey. Then, the moment you touch it or ship it, the whole thing starts peeling. Not a great look. Dealing with the heat High-intensity lamps get hot. Really hot. If your cooling isn’t up to the task, you’re looking at warped substrates or fried electrodes. We spend a lot of time looking at the lamp housing to make sure air can actually move. Plus, you’ve got to make sure your ballasts match the lamp’s impedance. If they don’t, your gear is going to burn out way sooner than it should. Finding the sweet spot Just dropping in a new lamp rarely solves everything. Sometimes, moving the lamp just 5mm closer to the product changes the curing speed completely. But you can’t just shove it against the material, or you’ll scorch the fabric or melt the plastic. It’s a balancing act. We work with you to find that exact middle ground where the ink is rock solid, but the material stays pristine.
